A good program for editing and retouching pictures; the best Photoshop clone one can get.

However, since version 7 (when I started using it), everytime it is installed, it takes over .bmp, .gif., .png and sometimes .jpg extensions and won't let go without registry hacks.

Hi there, If you search in preferences or set up in Paint shop Pro you will find a list of file associations.
By default every file type is selected. This is what allows PSP to "take over" all your image files and apply it's icon to the files.
To fix this: remove every checked file association. This will release your image files to the applications you are used to seeing and restore the icons.
Don't worry unchecking all the file tyoe association boxes will have no bad effects on the operation of PSP.
You will still be able to right click and choose to open the file with PSP.
Hope this helps,

I did not have the workable program because they want me to purchase this software which I thought it was included in package I bought from Dell.

Hi There,
After having purchased a few image editing programs, Paint shop Pro is the only one I ever use.
Go ahead and purchase the program. However I would go to an electronics store and buy the disk.
Because with the disk in hand it is easy to reinstall when you reinstall your operating system or if PSP "crashes".
The "key" is easy to lose and it is a hassle to get another one when you wish to reinstall the program.
Hope this helps,
Al
